She needs the warmest participant and dedication,
Here we are, coming from the U.S.A.
Beijing will embrace the 2008 Olympic Games with a huge warm welcome. It would be a great honor and a life-long benefit, if you could be chosen as an American Olympic ambassador to facilitate the Olympic volunteers and experience the hardships and happiness during the process of the preparation before the Olympics. The campers will be the trainers for the Olympic volunteers, in terms of the English language and the international etiquette. Not only will camp members make a great number of new friends, but they will also get to show their own values in the Olympics. This summer break is just the beginning for us to get closer to the world’s jumping-start line. Let’s go to Beijing, the heart of the 29th Olympic Games!

Itinerary
6/26/07
Depart from San Francisco to Beijing, China, a city which will host the 2008 Olympic Games. We will fly over the International Date Line. Meals, drinks and movies are offered during the flight.
6/27/07
Arrive in Beijing. Warmly welcomed by CCE 's Welcome Team and Beijing news reporters. Arrive at hotel to check in and attend a Welcome Dinner which is reserved in the hotel restaurant.
6/28/07
Summer Camp Opening Ceremony. BOCOG officials will address a welcome speech and announce the team list and divide them into groups. Visit the Olympic village and the main stadiums.
6/29/07
Our very first visit is Beijing, the heart of China. Beijing has a population of 13 million. Our first stop is Tiananmen Square, the largest square on earth, which covers 123 acres. To the north of the Square, Tiananmen Gate guards the entrance to the Forbidden City. Visiting the Forbidden City is a must. After lunch, we will visit the Temple of Heaven, a sacred place built in 1420, used to pray to the heaven for good harvests. Believe it or not, this huge construction was built over 600 years ago, without a single nail.

An excursion is arranged today after breakfast to one of the seven wonders in the world, the Great Wall. The 3,750-mile-long Great Wall, stretching from east to west in North China, is the only man made structure visible by naked eyes from the moon. After lunch, we will continue our visit to the Ming Tombs, where 13 Emperors and their Empresses of the Ming Dynasty were buried between 1368 and 1644.

A Beijing culture adventure to Hutong. Along with the rapid development, many Hutongs which represented the ancient view of Beijing were replaced by skyscrapers. Luckily, there are still a few Hutongs existing right now. Let’s go to those neighborhoods to experience local people’s life. In the afternoon, on the contrary, we will visit several highly developed neighborhoods which show the modern life in Beijing.

Practice with the volunteer’s the dialogues and the etiquette in groups. Preparations for the competition concentrating on the Chinese knowledge: constitute the competition rules and announce the range of the knowledge of the questions.

In the morning, we will experience Beijing farmers’ life in the country side. In the afternoon, we will stop at Zhoukoudian to visit the Peking Man Site, a world famous site which shows the life of Beijing people in 500,000 years ago.

The officials of BOCOG visit to the camp. Lecture about the Chinese culture and custom. Attend the activities with the officials including the knowledge competition. There will be plenty of prizes and awards for the winners and a certificate ceremony followed by.
7/9/07
We will start to visit China's largest and most cosmopolitan, Shanghai. We will visit the Temple of Jade Buddha which is the most famous temple in the city. The Huxinting Tea House is said to be a very safe and clean place, because it sits in the center of a pond, human beings can cross the zig-zag bridge to take tea in the teahouse, but evil spirits cannot ------ they cannot turn those corners. We will have a night-tour to the famous Bund, and the sleepless Nanjing Road after dinner.

Visit top High Schools (public/private). Attend social events with the local. Visit Shanghai Teenagers’ Palace and Shanghai alley.
7/11/07
After an early breakfast, we will go to the heavenly city Suzhou. Poets have compared Suzhou to the Heaven and called this water surrounded city the Venice of the East. The whole afternoon will be spent in the Garden of Forest of Lions.
7/12/07
Today we will fly to San Francisco from Shanghai. Our home bound flight will gain one day when crossing the International Date Line, arriving in SFO in the morning the same date.
Special Insurance program:
The insurance is provided by the well known travel insurance company, Travelex. The campers who pay the total fee 60 days prior to the departure date will have this insurance program for free. From the time when the campers leave the United States, every moment of their stay in China will be included in the insurance. The program contains 7 items which range from the $50,000 medical fee to the compensation of the loss of luggage. |
