How many days do I need to work in China to complete my whole Internship?
10 weeks ( 70 days total )

Do I have to do my Internship during the summer vacation?
Yes, only summer positions are available as of now.

Can I do my Internship in China two years prior to my graduation?
No problem with CCE. But you need to confirm this with your own Professor / Advisor.

What documents must I send to the CCE office during the application process?
4 Passport size photos
A valid passport
Visa application form
Signed Terms & Conditions document
Copy of Travel insurance

Is my internship paid?
Most Intern will receive a small monthly stipend in Chinese currency, which is usually enough to cover lunch expenses .

Do I need a Travel insurance?
Yes. All participants MUST have a Travel Insurance. However, CCE’s customer service representative will be happy to go extra miles to help you with this need at a highest coverage and a lowest premium.

How does the internship placement process work?
Candidates are asked to list three types of position they would like to do internships in. Once a candidate is accepted into the program, their acceptance constitutes a guarantee CCE will place them in one of their three chosen internship types. Upon receipt of the deposit, the candidate's resume is circulated among our companies in China to arrange placement. If a position has not been sourced by the application deadline, the entire deposit will be refunded within 30 days.

How do I contact my friends and family when I arrive in China?
Upon arrival in China, the Intern will receive a local phone cards to call USA.

How widely is English used in China?
English is not widely used in China. Participants are advised to bring a Mandarin phrase book.

Please describe my accommodation during the Internship?
There are three options: 1) one-bedroom apartment 2) international student dormitories 3) local budget hotels / hostels. CCE will choose the best option available for the Interns.

How do l access to the Internet?
1) Internet cafes are common in China. 2) almost all the host companies have easy internet access..

Is China safe?
China is relatively safe and serious crimes against foreigners are rare. However, caution should be taken in crowded places such as stations against pickpockets.

What vaccinations do I need before going to China?
Please consult with you personal physician about this. However, the following vaccinations and applicable frequencies are recommended :
Hepatitis A (within previous 10 years); Hepatitis B (within previous 5 to 10 years), Japanese B Encephalitis (within previous 3 years); Tetanus (within previous 10 years); Polio (within previous 10 years); and Typhoid (once in lifetime).

How can I get money when I am in China?
China is still mainly a cash economy. You may bring money with you, either in the form of cash or traveler's checks.(traveler's checks can be cashed at Bank of China only) ATM machines are available at limited Bank of China and CITIC Industrial Bank locations (downtown), or cash advances can be drawn over the counter at most large banks for a transaction charge. Major hotels and most fine restaurants and stores now accept credit cards.

Where can I do my laundry?
Laundry can be taken to local dry cleaners (this is cheap in China). Students housed in dormitory style accommodation will have access to washing machines on campus

How much do meals cost?
Chinese restaurants offer meals for 10 - 20 RMB (~US$1-3) per person. It is even cheaper to dine at the host company’s staff cafeteria.

Can I arrive in China early and return later than scheduled date?
Yes, but you will be responsible for payment of accommodation fees for any additional days.

What should be on my packing list?
In summer you are advised to bring cotton shirts, skirts, pants etc. A shower proof jacket is also suggested. In winter you are advised to bring one warm over coat and warms pants and sweaters. Clothes and shoes can be bought very cheaply in China, so you may buy anything there in case of need.
Besides, you may bring any prescription medication in sufficient quantities to last for the duration of your visit and any preferred brands of over-the-counter medications (cold & flu tablets, etc.).

What is the voltage used in China?
The voltage here is 220. Converters and power strips may be purchased locally.

What kind of general support will I have while I'm abroad?
CCE has an office in Beijing with English speaking staff. Office hours are 9.00am--5.00pm Monday to Friday. During the weekends and after hours, CCE local representative will be happy to assist you if you call their cell phones. Besides, you may always call our US based CCE emergency line 24/7 in case of emergency.
